80s Movies and Cute Boys

I can't believe it's been a whole week since the last post!
Oh wait, yes I can.
I've waited all week to post because I kept thinking of good things to write about. And now it is the weekend and I can't remember anything to write about.
That is why I just now as I was writing the above sentence that every time I think of a good post subject I will write it down and put it in a jar. Then every weekend I will pull a topic out of the jar and write about it.
This will work until I get bored of putting topics into the jar and I will have to come back to this moment of being unable to come up with a topic.
I've decided that I will write a list I wrote a while ago, but I will add pictures! Yay for pictures!

Top 6 John Hughes' Movie Men

6. Wyatt Donnelly from Weird Science (1985)

This kid is adorable. I mean it, cutest 14-year old kid ever. Unlike his co-star in this movie, Anthony Michael Hall, he is a little more timid around women but in the end he gets his courage and gets the girl. Basically he made this list because he is so damn cute throughout the whole movie.

5. Jake Ryan from Sixteen Candles (1984)

Okay, so this is the token hunk of the list. Most people would probably place him higher, but I like the more real or funny guys more than Jake. Sure, he is supposed to be the perfect guy and that would be my best guess at why I haven't placed him higher. I don't do well with perfection. But I do still love him. I mean c'mon, that cake? That kiss? Sign me up.

4. Farmer Ted from Sixteen Candles (1984)

Something about his cocky attitude and less-than-smooth behavior I find just adorable. Also, I'm a sucker for Anthony Michael Hall. I always root for the underdog. The reason I chose Farmer Ted over AMH's two other characters is because he is more romantic and (only slightly) less sex-crazed than his character in Weird Science and is more confident than his character in The Breakfast Club.Once again, gotta love AMH.

3. Duckie from Pretty in Pink (1986)

This guy is like my alter ego. I'm serious. He's amazing. I truly am in love with him. He's stuck in the friendzone and do I feel for him. And he is just so darn cute. Oh Mr. John Cryer, why couldn't you have stayed 17? Good lord, I mean really. Where is my Duckie? Even if he couldn't be my boyfriend, I would best friend the shit out of this guy. Believe it or not he isn't number one, but I LOVE HIM!!

2. John Bender from The Breakfast Club (1985)

Yeah, he gets two pictures. There is something about a bad boy that gets me going. Especially when you know they have a good heart. Bender is the only man (other than maybe Jake Ryan) who I think is truly sexy. I see him as a total bad-ass. But during the course of the movie I just fall in love with him. (I will give a shout out to Emilio Estevez, who I also love, but didn't make the cut)

1. Ferris Bueller from Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986)

This guy. I mean really? If you've seen the movie you should need no explanation. But if you want one I have it. Here I go. He's funny, charming, suave, smooth, intelligent, romantic, fun, witty and within all that not perfect. I think the scene that confirmed my crushin' on Ferris Bueller/Matthew Broderick status was the scene in the museum backed to the score of Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want by The Smiths.  It is a completely wordless scene yet carries so much meaning. Ferris Bueller you're my hero. God. Damn. You. Where's my Ferris?

So there you have it. Not only do I love the men from these movies, but these movies taught me so much about life, high school and myself. This also proves how amazing John Hughes (the writer/director of all these movies) was. His movies were made in the 80s but still hold relevance today. If you have not seen these movies then I highly suggest that you do. I've come to the end where I will post something cute, although frankly I've just shown 6 cute pictures so it's a little redundant but whatever.
Definitely aww worthy. Urm, that's all for this week. See you next week Mr. Spell-Check.

Love,

I wish I were a teenager in the 80s

Well, HI!

Hello there dear Internets!
I have begun my endeavor of writing a blog that no one will see. Now this doesn't mean I don't want anyone to see it. It is that I think no one will.
No matter, this is not for others, it is for me and Mr. Spell-check who reads all my writing but also criticizes a lot of what I do. Like my mother. Not the time for that though. No ranting about my mother in the very first post.
So I've decided in the interest of me actually doing this here blog regularly, I will write about a specific topic every time I post and it will not be a random account of the day because frankly that is not exciting. Like ever. Seriously. It's the main reason I've never kept a diary for more than a week. Therefore each post will have a specific topic. Another way in which I will hopefully post regularly is that I will only feel obligated to post once a week and only on the weekend. Now this doesn't mean I won't post more than once a week, it will just mean that ... well that I will post only once a week.
I'm explaining this to you dear Internets, for you must not get worried when I don't show up to this site every day. But don't fret because you have my soul regardless of what site I am using. You have me. Forever.
Anyway, enough about my sad relationship with the Internets (yeah I'm gonna keep calling it that), lets get down to business.

Whoa, where did he come from? Oh yes, the part of my mind that is always thinking about Disney. Which helps explain the title of this blog, A Princess in a Nerd's Body. Because I believe (or wish) that I truly am a Disney princess, on the inside. On the outside, as the title would suggest, I am a full blown nerd, geek or dork, you may pick your favourite. Yeah, I could explain why I'm a nerd but I'm sure it will become clear very soon or from several posts.
So I decided that I may as well make the first post about myself. Because we live in a very self involved world and what else would a blog post really be about?
I'm going to go through the awful details I feel obligated to go through. Here we go.
I am: female, Caucasian (f**k society for making me write that), 17 (don't judge my adolescence), 5'3", brown hair, green eyes and can I be done now? Yes? Okay.
So here are some less annoying and stupid stuff you actually might be interested in. I hail from Canada. Yes, the great white north. And I love it. I love being from Canada where gay marriage is legal and health care is free (don't fight me on that one, let me have it). I am beginning in two days the final semester of high school. DUN DUN freakin' DUH. So that's kind of got my mind scared. Yes that sentence was weird, but that's okay. I am done talking about myself. Tell me about you. Oh wait, there is only Mr. Spell-check and he doesn't talk. That makes me sad. If per chance there is someone or something reading this, tell me about yourself or ask me questions about myself. I may leave an example because I'm weird like that.
Huh. I've found I don't want to talk about myself yet all the posts I've semi thought about planning about doing are about my opinions. Oh well. I've decided that at the end of every post I will post the top picture on a website called www.reddit.com in the "subreddit" r/aww which has pictures of cute things. And to give credit where credit is due, I will also post the link so the author gets their due. Here you go you beautiful Internets you!
That's actually disappointing, because it is usually a cat or something, not this. Although they are kind of cute. Not what I was expecting. Alright. Well. Goodbye until next time.

Love,

My Name Here
